Last October OCHO milled over half a tonne of malt and crammed it into their mash tun at the beginning of what would be a very long (but rewarding) brew day! The result was a concentrated, jet black liquor then fermented in stainless for 3-4 weeks before racking into 3 x 300L French oak hogsheads (the very same barrels we'd just emptied Old Dreadful out of). After about 7 months' ageing in oak, we racked it back into stainless for packaging. We are incredibly happy with the result. A terrifyingly rich and roasty stout which we encourage you to enjoy in front of an open fire this Winter! Tasting Notes: aroma= dark chocolate covered cherries, a hint of coconut from the oak. flavour= rich chocolate mud cake, smooth, blackcurrant fruitiness, hints of cocoa liqueur, vanilla, coconut, and a nice drying finish from the oak. Ingredients: Malt: pale malt, Pils malt, chit malt, chocolate malt, roast barley, crystal malt Hops: Columbus Yeast: American Ale Barrels: French oak hogsheads (300L) for 7 months. OG 1.101, FG 1.025, IBUs 67
